Provision of new gas and elec connections, removal of 20 gas and elec meters and disconnection of corresponding supplies for InterContinental London Westminster Hotel.
Project Value: over £100m
Details The InterContinental London Westminster Hotel is located in the former Queen Anne’s Chambers. It spans a 120,000ft² freehold site located next to the New Scotland Yard Police Headquarters and occupies four buildings across three streets.
Challenges to the development included: Insufficient gas load on site requiring supply upgrade and new meter installation. Insufficient substation capacity for the required electrical load, requiring new on-site substation installation and elec meter upgrades.
Action Taken During site visits with the appointed M&E Consultants, maximeyes identified 20 electricity and gas meters, along with several additional unidentified meter heads and supplies, to be removed and disconnected to facilitate safe siteworks. An investigation was conducted with the local distributor to process the removal of all supply points and the necessary flows were issued to allow disconnections.
In this particular instance and at no fault of the client, National Grid had missed 3 consecutive appointments for gas disconnections. maximeyes managed to negotiate compensation to be paid to the client and our representatives attended the fourth site visit to ensure that it was completed without further delay. Quotations for the supply re-connections were obtained from ICPs and UIPs, along with those for new meter installations.
Net Benefit Comprehensive ongoing reporting was provided to our client and their contractors, allowing them to plan site works efficiently. Compensation of over £1500 was negotiated with National Grid to cover the cost of the 3 consecutive missed appointments. A competitive reconnection quote was obtained from the ICP generating a 15% cost saving when compared to the offers received from the DNO.
